Know the armor of God, its meaning and how to use it: Ephesians 6

Ephesians chapter 6 is the last chapter of this letter, addressed to the Ephesians by Paul. In the development of verses 10 through 18 Paul seeks to encourage them to remain with firm faith in the Lord. For at every moment there is a spiritual battle and therefore one must be in a position to defend oneself. These attacks against the spirit, caused by Satan and his evil forces, can be presented as doubt before faithtemptation before the sinor feel that you are not good enough to carry the voice of God's Word.

In order to explain how faith can be our protective shield against spiritual attacks, Paul refers to a metaphor that contains great power. He describes the armor of God, which consists of the implements that God gives to all his children so that they can defend themselves and overcome the attacks of the evil one. By putting on this armor in a symbolic way you will be filled with firmness and you will stand with firm faith in the face of attacks.

Know the armor of God, its meaning and how to use it: Ephesians 6 1

Nothing is missing from this armor, moreover, the mission that each of its parts fulfills was not assigned by accident; on the contrary, each one has great meaning and value. Let's take a closer look at this armor:

Seek the Lord's strength

"And now, brethren, seek your strength in the Lord, in his irresistible power. Protect yourselves with all the armor that God has given you, so that you may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil. For we are not fighting against human powers, but against evil spiritual forces from heaven, which have command, authority and dominion over the world of darkness that surrounds us. Therefore take up the whole armor that God has given you, so that you may be able to stand in the evil day and, after you have prepared yourselves well, to stand firm" (Ephesians 6:10-13).

Satan cannot be defeated in your own strength. God is the only one who can give you strength and power. necessary to overcome it. To obtain the strength that comes from the Lord it is necessary, first of all, to seek Him, to know Him internally and to accept Him. You seek him through the prayer daily, from the reading and knowledge of his Word, fulfilling as much as possible his commands. By accepting his Doctrine, you receive him in your heart by faith.

The Christian is faced with a enemy spiritual, that is, the fight is spiritual. For that reason the weapons to use for defense are not tangible, you need a spiritual power. The evil one has at his disposal all kinds of weapons, which could be compared to missiles of war, however, the armor that God provides is resistant to all these attacks of Satan.

This biblical passage clearly expresses that by following to the letter all the instructions regarding the use of the armor, you will stand firm, and you will achieve victory no matter what strategy Satan uses.

Armor description

"Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, take up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." (Ephesians 6:14-18)

It is very clear that nothing is missing from this armor, moreover, the mission that each of its parts fulfills was not assigned by accident; on the contrary, each one has a great meaning and value. Let's take a closer look at this armor:

"Girded the truth"

The first element present in the armor is truth. For God considers a lie to be an abomination. Therefore, for you to attain sanctification and deliverance you must put on the truth.

This truth sticks to the person who decides to use it, which does not allow him to fall into lies of any kind. He who walks in the way of truth will be free, truth has power. Truth drives away the powers of evil.

How to use it?

In other words, this expression invites you to trust the truth contained in God's word and His plan for your life and motivates you to live a life free from sin and lies. Keep in mind that you will not be ready for battle until you have "girded" your mind with the truth, which is the Word of God.

"Clad in the breastplate of righteousness."

The armor protects the warrior of lethal wounds, both to the heart and to other vital organs. And the righteousness referred to is not the righteousness of men. But the righteousness of Christ, given by God and accepted by faith, this righteousness protects the heart from Satan's attacks, guards the heart from his accusations. Provided that you have put on this heart, that is, that from the depths of your thoughts you understand and accept that you are righteous now and forever before God.

How to use it?

Let us take as an example the sin of the envy. Attacks against the spirit can come in many forms, but it can suddenly present itself to you, in a friend who has everything materially, which is the opposite of your case. In the face of such an attack you should remember the sacrifice Christ made for you and the blessings that God pours into your life, so you will be able to overcome that feeling of envy.

"Shod feet with the gospel of peace."

If you encounter a path of glass and sharp stones and you are also barefoot, you will not advance and in such a case if you do you will not be able to get far. Therefore you must keep your feet well shod. Like those people who proclaim the Gospel, you must keep your feet in spite of the sufferings for its sake.

This expression suggests that in the face of Satan's attacksIf the Kingdom of God is to be propagated, one must be aware that there will be hidden traps. Satan is cunning and will avoid at all costs that the Kingdom of God be propagated, and will use multiple obstacles to achieve it.

How to use it?

Strengthening your spirit by devoting time to Jesus. Letting his peace fill your life and heart, asking God for the courage to stand firm and be the voice bearer of his Great News.

"Take the shield of faith."

This sentence motivates to believe with faith in the Word of God. This implies knowing His Word, which is a requirement for the flourishing of faith. For it is of no avail to know the Bible if you do not believe in what it says. For you will only get protection, like a shield of war, if you believe in what God says.

In temptations, the devil throws his darts of evil fire directly into the mind, because it is here where reason is, that is, where the power to decide between being obedient to God or falling into temptation, into the pleasures of the flesh, is. Do not forget that faith at all times goes against the desires of the flesh.

How to use it?

Dedicate time to God, to the knowledge of His word, by reading and assimilating the word of God you are at the same time nourishing your faith. Fill your mind with the knowledge of the truth and be clear about who God is and how you are in Him, so that you can use that truth when doubts attack. And thus bounce back into the truth the darts of temptation thrown by Satan.

"Helm of salvation."

The helmet is like a helmet, and it helps to protect the mind. Satan uses it as a battlefield. If you keep your mind busy, renewing daily the knowledge of the Word of God, you protect it from the attacks of the evil one. The mind must be clear in the certainty of salvation. Keep it full of gratitude to God. For in times of war it is easy to doubt and believe that we are not saved.

How to use it?

Remember at all times and with firmness that you are saved, that Jesus gave his life for you, that God loves you and you are his for eternity. Carry your life in obedience y trust in Godwithout departing from the truth of his Word.

"Sword of the spirit"

With the sword of the Spirit we face the attacks of Satan and in turn he is attacked with the truth. This is the last part of the great armor, but not the least important, since it comes from God, who is Spirit, is his Word.

Once again, the importance of knowing the Word of God. And it is not a mere intellectual knowledge, but that knowledge that passes from the mind to the heart. This is the best offensive weapon that can exist and it is also the only one that defeats the enemy.

But absolutely no person can find victory by using "the sword of the spirit" alone, but rather the rest of the "sword of the spirit" must be put to work. the armor of God.

How to use it?

Keep in your mind and in your heart the word of God and live a life according to its principles. It will help you to fight lies with truth.

"Pray at all times."

Fervent prayer helps us to get more than what we ask for. People who are not in the habit of praying should first discipline themselves and then the spirit alone will seek to satiate the longing to pray.

Being constant in prayer increases the treasure in heaven, as well as makes patience and meekness flourish in your life in a natural way, thank you to the true presence of God.
