The marriage is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church and is a holy sacrament and an institution, blessed by God, by means of which a man and a woman may be joined in the sacraments of the Church. woman unite through love and are ready to receive the benefits of the gifts of God. Catholic marriage cannot be broken, it is eternal.
The word marriage comes from the Latin matrimonĭumformed by the words mater, which refers to mother y moniumwhich refers to a formal or ritual act.
It is through love that a man and a woman come to the marriage and the family. With this sacrament God is praised through conjugal and filial love. The sacred scriptures tell us that man was created in the image and likeness of God and both man and woman were created for each other; being the true feeling between them a reflection of the love with which the Lord loves man. With this sacrament the spouses receive the Holy Spirit in communion with Christ and the Church, sealing the spouses' covenant, being the source of their love and fidelity.
For the Church, marriage is a very important institution because through it the spouses create a home, have offspring and educate their children in the Christian teachings of love and faith in our Lord.
In the holy scriptures there are many verses that talk about marriage, its importance and give excellent advice for spouses and their marital life. The following are some verses that deal with marital life
He that hath found a wife hath found good, and hath obtained favor of the LORD..
It is so important to God and his divine plan that the choice of a wife or husband is a motive of his blessings and are part of his will for us to live with joy and love. Choosing a partner that will allow us to reach the sacrament of marriage is something that pleases our Father Creator, because he wants us to be accompanied and to walk the path of life. Christian with joy together with a family built with true love. Just as we are to serve Christ before marriage, after finding our mate we can serve Him together as a unit with God's pleasure.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
This verse shows the importance of marriage as a way of living and a way to fulfill ourselves as persons and as Christians. God wants us to form our own home and have our own family, and to do this he indicates that we must leave our parents and form our own home. It is important to understand that parents should always be honored, but when establishing a new family this will be the priority of spouses and parents.
Likewise, in this verse the Lord says that the spouses will be "one flesh" which shows us that with marriage one ceases to be one to become us, a unit. In marriage the couple must care for and protect each other in all aspects, both materially and spiritually; decisions must be joint and seek common goals that enrich and benefit both spouses and the rest of the family.
Engrave me as a seal upon your heart; wear me as a mark upon your arm. Love is strong as death, and passion is tenacious as the grave. Like a divine flame is the burning fire of love. Nor can many waters quench it, nor rivers extinguish it.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7a
The true love is a feeling that goes beyond the senses, that seeks the essence and beauty of the other; it transmits security, trust, longing and correspondence. It marks the heart and arms as symbols of surrender and illusion, because it is a feeling that lasts in time and nothing can erase it. When you love with freedomWith sincere love, passion, calm, need and trust can do everything for the joy of those who love. True love is strong and nothing can fade it; in adversity it grows and feeds on passion and trust.
Man's heart charts his course, but his steps are directed by the Lord.
The Lord knows what is best for each one of us, we men think and dream of what we want but God has chosen us to fulfill a purpose in our lives and in the lives of others. He knows what is best for each one of us and it is His will that will remain. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy. He purified her, washing her with water by the word.
God sent his son Jesus Christ to redeem us from our sins, that is the greatest sign of love that our Father has given us and when in this verse Paul compares the surrender and love of Jesus Christ to the love of God. Jesus with the love that a husband should have for his wife tells us that marriage is as important as the church and everything that is cultivated in marriage and the home will bear fruit for the Church; thus to love one's wife is to care for her and to sacrifice with the highest feelings everything for the home and the family. To seek the love and happiness of the other is to obtain the love and happiness of oneself.
In the same way, you husbands, be understanding in your married life, treating each one your wife with respect, for as a woman she is more delicate, and both of you are heirs of the gracious gift of life. Thus nothing will hinder your prayers.
1 Peter 3:7
Since the basis of marriage is love and respect, through this verse we understand that marriage is built day by day with respect and understanding between spouses. Each one has weaknesses and strengths that must be understood and accepted by the other. When we love and know each other we can help by being a support to move forward and to accompany our partner at all times. Happiness is achieved with respect and acceptance of the other, including the spiritual life of both.
Likewise the husband should love his wife as his own body. He who loves his wife loves himself.
Respect for oneself and for the other are fundamental pillars in any relationship, even more in the marital life where you share with your partner the same roof, the daily life, the problems and in general life. To love one's spouse as oneself is to respect and honor oneself at all times, it is to understand that both husband and wife must take care of each other, support each other and give each other material and spiritual sustenance so that the marriage and the home are full of blessings and see their love grow through the Holy Spirit.
In any case, let each of you also love his wife as himself, and let the wife respect her husband.
This verse is a complement of the previous one where the apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of loving and respecting your partner as yourself. In marriage the physical and spiritual unity of the spouses is intended and for this to be achieved true and deep feelings must exist between the man and the woman.
Loving your wife and respecting your husband is so important that they are the deep roots that nourish the tree of life and the home. God wants the marriage to be full of qualities and feelings that exalt the man and the woman and that allow them to reach happiness and holiness to follow God's way which is eternal love.
House and wealth are inherited from the fathers, but a wise woman comes from the Lord.
A good wife is a woman who loves, respects and gives everything for love. Riches and material things are blessings but the gifts of the heart and spirituality only come from the Lord, through a humble and generous heart. A wise wife is the best treasure a husband can have and is the greatest of all the riches that he should take care of and treasure.
Let marriage be honourable in all, and the marriage bed undefiled: for the immoral and adulterers God will judge.
The sacrament of marriage is the communion of a man and a woman united by a sincere and true love, blessed by God; it is for all this that the marriage and the couple relationship of the spouses must be sincere and honest. The man will love and respect his wife and she will love and respect her husband. For God and for the Church marriage is an institution that deserves all the care and attention of its members and nothing dishonest and sinful should harm it. Intimacy and desire between spouses is a blessing.
Have you not read," Jesus replied, "that in the beginning the Creator "made them male and female," and said, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one body"? So they are no longer two, but one. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.
God made man in his image and likeness and gave him a companion to form a family, with this gesture our Father taught us that the union of a man and a woman is to realize life together, to care for and protect each other, they no longer live separately but form one body and acquire duties and rights within their family. Marriage is forever and must be based on love, respect and wisdom through the Holy Spirit. What God joins together, let no man put asunder.
Blessed be thy fountain, and rejoice with the wife of thy youth! She is a loving gazelle, she is a charming fawn, May her breasts always satisfy you, May her love captivate you all the time!
Marriage is strengthened by love between the spouses and a satisfying sex life between them. Fidelity and trust are built with self-esteem and with a sex life that brings joy and delight between the spouses. For the husband his wife should inspire passion and calm, tranquility and euphoria. Between them and as part of their love their intimate life is a way of expressing this feeling for each other. When the foundations of marriage are based on love and faith in God, the attraction between the spouses will endure over time.
Two are better than one, for they obtain more fruit from their labor. If they fall, one lifts up the other; woe to him who falls and has no one to lift him up! If two lie down together, they will warm themselves; but how can one warm himself alone?
When spouses are united and set goals and dreams together, their work and effort are rewarded. Marriage is a partnership where each works for the other, takes care of each other and protects each other in the good and bad times that life has. Spouses are together for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. Only through love and in the conviction of faith in Christ can a full life in marriage be achieved. Walking the path of life accompanied by someone who loves us and whom we love will allow us to reach the fullness and joy of life.
Let everyone hold marriage and marital fidelity in high esteem, for God will judge adulterers and all who commit sexual immorality.
From the beginning marriage is a sacred sacrament and its social and Christian value is invaluable. The union through marriage brings joy to man and is well seen by the Lord, for all this the immoral and what harms either spouse will be judged harshly. Unfaithfulness in marriage is not accepted nor any kind of sexual immorality, let alone acts that embarrass or manipulate the other causing harm or discredit.
