It is through love that a man and a woman come to the marriage and the family. With this sacrament God is praised through conjugal and filial love. The sacred scriptures tell us that man was created in the image and likeness of God and both man and woman were created for each other; being the true feeling between them a reflection of the love with which the Lord loves man. With this sacrament the spouses receive the Holy Spirit in communion with Christ and the Church, sealing the spouses' covenant, being the source of their love and fidelity.

For the Church, marriage is a very important institution because through it the spouses create a home, have offspring and educate their children in the Christian teachings of love and faith in our Lord.

Proverbs 18:22

It is so important to God and his divine plan that the choice of a wife or husband is a motive of his blessings and are part of his will for us to live with joy and love. Choosing a partner that will allow us to reach the sacrament of marriage is something that pleases our Father Creator, because he wants us to be accompanied and to walk the path of life. Christian with joy together with a family built with true love. Just as we are to serve Christ before marriage, after finding our mate we can serve Him together as a unit with God's pleasure.

Verse 2

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 2:24

This verse shows the importance of marriage as a way of living and a way to fulfill ourselves as persons and as Christians. God wants us to form our own home and have our own family, and to do this he indicates that we must leave our parents and form our own home. It is important to understand that parents should always be honored, but when establishing a new family this will be the priority of spouses and parents.

Likewise, in this verse the Lord says that the spouses will be "one flesh" which shows us that with marriage one ceases to be one to become us, a unit. In marriage the couple must care for and protect each other in all aspects, both materially and spiritually; decisions must be joint and seek common goals that enrich and benefit both spouses and the rest of the family.

Verse 3

Engrave me as a seal upon your heart; wear me as a mark upon your arm. Love is strong as death, and passion is tenacious as the grave. Like a divine flame is the burning fire of love. Nor can many waters quench it, nor rivers extinguish it.

Song of Solomon 8:6-7a

The true love is a feeling that goes beyond the senses, that seeks the essence and beauty of the other; it transmits security, trust, longing and correspondence. It marks the heart and arms as symbols of surrender and illusion, because it is a feeling that lasts in time and nothing can erase it. Ephesians 5:25-26

God sent his son Jesus Christ to redeem us from our sins, that is the greatest sign of love that our Father has given us and when in this verse Paul compares the surrender and love of Jesus Christ to the love of God. Jesus with the love that a husband should have for his wife tells us that marriage is as important as the church and everything that is cultivated in marriage and the home will bear fruit for the Church; thus to love one's wife is to care for her and to sacrifice with the highest feelings everything for the home and the family. To seek the love and happiness of the other is to obtain the love and happiness of oneself.

In the same way, you husbands, be understanding in your married life, treating each one your wife with respect, for as a woman she is more delicate, and both of you are heirs of the gracious gift of life. Thus nothing will hinder your prayers.

Since the basis of marriage is love and respect, through this verse we understand that marriage is built day by day with respect and understanding between spouses. Each one has weaknesses and strengths that must be understood and accepted by the other. When we love and know each other we can help by being a support to move forward and to accompany our partner at all times. Happiness is achieved with respect and acceptance of the other, including the spiritual life of both.

Verse 8

In any case, let each of you also love his wife as himself, and let the wife respect her husband.

Ephesians 5:33

This verse is a complement of the previous one where the apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of loving and respecting your partner as yourself. In marriage the physical and spiritual unity of the spouses is intended and for this to be achieved true and deep feelings must exist between the man and the woman.

Loving your wife and respecting your husband is so important that they are the deep roots that nourish the tree of life and the home. God wants the marriage to be full of qualities and feelings that exalt the man and the woman and that allow them to reach happiness and holiness to follow God's way which is eternal love.

House and wealth are inherited from the fathers, but a wise woman comes from the Lord.

A good wife is a woman who loves, respects and gives everything for love. Riches and material things are blessings but the gifts of the heart and spirituality only come from the Lord, through a humble and generous heart. A wise wife is the best treasure a husband can have and is the greatest of all the riches that he should take care of and treasure.

Intimacy and desire between spouses is a blessing.

So they are no longer two, but one. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.

Matthew 19:4-6

God made man in his image and likeness and gave him a companion to form a family, with this gesture our Father taught us that the union of a man and a woman is to realize life together, to care for and protect each other, they no longer live separately but form one body and acquire duties and rights within their family. Marriage is forever and must be based on love, respect and wisdom through the Holy Spirit. What God joins together, let no man put asunder.

Walking the path of life accompanied by someone who loves us and whom we love will allow us to reach the fullness and joy of life.

Unfaithfulness in marriage is not accepted nor any kind of sexual immorality, let alone acts that embarrass or manipulate the other causing harm or discredit.

Exemplary woman, where can she be found? She is more valuable than precious stones!
