Biblical Considerations on Divine Healing

Health is understood as the condition of physical and mental well-being of an individual, which can be maintained by respecting certain preventive rules that guarantee a good health in the earthly course of the human being.

But there is a spiritual health that can be enjoyed here on earth and that serves as an opening for the enjoyment of an eternal life free of punishment and full of benefits. These two aspects of health constitute what can be called healing and both are referred to on multiple occasions in biblical teachings.

Biblical Considerations on Divine Healing 1

Earthly health

For every human being it is of the utmost importance to have good physical health and when this is affected, every person enters into a state of desperation, seeking immediately to solve this situation and if it is the case that it worsens and leads to death, moments of incomprehension and consternation impossible to understand are reached.

In all these moments it is important to trust in Godbecause He is always present among men and even more so when we converse with Him by means of the prayer. God is wisdom and knows exactly the moments when He can satisfy our requests.

Spiritual healing

Spiritual health is determined by the promises enjoyment of an eternal future in which pain, anxiety, anxiety, and the diseasessuffering and death. Apocalypse 21:3-8:

"And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them; and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be their God with them. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and death shall be no more; and there shall be no more mourning, nor crying, nor pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are faithful and true."

For this reason we should show less anxiety about the physical aspects of our body and be more concerned about the spiritual state, as stated in Romans 12:1-2:

"Therefore, brethren, in view of God's mercy, I urge each of you in spiritual worship to offer your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. 2 Do not conform yourselves to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to prove what is the will of God, good and acceptable and perfect".

Divine healing

It is the great power that God manifests through our physical expression to recover the order in our lives, altered either by an illness or by wrong behaviors. This healing process can be received gradually or immediately, keeping in mind that what for a human being is a long time for God, is an instant in his eternity. With this it should be understood that divine healing is obtained by entering in contact with the divine power.

God has the power to heal in ways that are inexplicable to mankind, such as miracles, which is proof of his love for humanity and his closeness and deference to human beings.

Manifestations of divine healing

The procedure of the Son God's life as a man is full of manifestations of divine healing, since his public life was characterized by always doing good, physically healing many people and freeing many others from the power of Satan. (Acts 10: 38).

Thus, there are countless cases of healing of serious diseases and examples of resurrection, which took place not only directly through Jesus Christ, but also through prophets referred to in the Bible. Old Testament (Galatians 3: 5, Ephesians 6:17) and for the apostles and disciples of Jesus (James 5:14-15, Matthew 4:23, Matthew 8:2-3, Luke 22:49-51).

Effectiveness of divine healing in case of diseases

As stated by Lucas (Luke 9:2 "And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. the sick") and Mateo (Matthew 10:8 "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."), among the many functions that Jesus delegated to his apostles and disciples, healing diseases has an important connotation, possibly because it is a visible sign of the great divine power.

It has been said that sometimes physical illnesses can be the consequence of illnesses of the soul, as the latter is affected by the sinAn example of this is when Jesus healed a man of his sickness and immediately told him: "See, you are healed; sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you" (John 5:14).

However, on the other hand, there is also the interpretation among believers that sometimes an illness is a means of praising God, since once healed, it allows them to give signs of gratitude and recognition of the Creator's magnanimity, as the evangelist John (John 9:1-3 "As Jesus passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.").

Origin of health care

Undoubtedly every act of healing comes from God, being able to do it through proven healthy people before Him. In his journey as a man, he urged anyone suffering from illness to turn to the most expert members of the Church to pray for the sick person and to apply consecrated oils in the name of God, this done with faith will cure the sick person and forgive his sins.

(James 5:14-16). It is said that this practice was quite effective at the time of the spread of Christianity by the apostles and disciples of Jesus. (Luke 9:2).

Today, demonstrations of God's power for the healing of physical and mental illnesses continue to be made, which can be summarized in the experiences of the laying on of hands practiced since the time of Jesus. (James 5: 13-15) and in massive acts of healing (Corinthians 12: 27-31)Both practices must be performed by authorized persons with the approval of the ecclesiastical superiority.

It should be kept in mind that the true and only healer is God, as long as one has true faith in this aspect and complies with His commands. (Matthew 9:20-22, John 3:22-23).

The demonstration of faith in God implies the additional and indispensable search for human help, resorting to medical expertise to achieve the desired relief and healing.

Why is bodily healing not always obtained?

Although it may seem unpleasant and incomprehensible, we do not always have the guarantee that God will respond to our pleas for healing, because from the beginning it is written that men must die in order to go to a judgment and finally enjoy eternal well-being. (Hebrews 9:27). The human body by its very constitution slowly deteriorates and is susceptible to accidents, disease and death.

This is how we must accept the moment of death as just another physiological aspect of our life. In this way we can understand more accurately what divine healing consists of. God will not grant healing indefinitely, since there will come a time when, according to his will, he will allow our death as a way to live eternity.

Healing according to God's will

God has taught us that our body, when it remains free of bad habits, constitutes his temple or dwelling place and that is why he ensures that we enjoy good health (Corinthians 6: 1-2, John 1: 2).

Knowing our body and our needs, God always seeks our welfare, that is why an illness or any negative eventuality that comes our way, should not be seen as a punishment but as a way to increase our faith and strengthen our relationship with the Creator, leaving to His will what is the most appropriate time to grant us the healing. For this reason, when we ask for divine healing, we should do so trusting that with the wisdom and in the wisdom of the Creator, we will be healed. love God will give us what we need, at the right time (Romans 8:28).
